North Carolina
- North Carolina was founded in 1663 by The Lord'sProprietors which was a group of 8 men who would basically rule the colony. King Charles wanted to make profit out of North Carolina so he granted this charter.
- There were corrupt officials in North Carolina and there was lots of violence due to war with the native Americans and pirates
- Their economy consists of the growing and selling of tobacco, rice, indigo, grain, and cattle. Plantation owners were very rich and slaves were needed in order to grow these cash crops.
- Geography: it's East coast is fronts with the Atantic Ocean and thgGulf stream- prone to hurricanes. The colony has mountains, lots of rivers, hilly land, Naha mild to warm climate
- Government: NC colony is a proprietary colony meaning it is run by a group of landowners. Later it becomes a royal colony.
- Some famous people from NC are President Andrew Johnson,President James K. Polk, Andy Griffith, O. Henry, and Virginia dare (the first child from England born in America)
- Most people are Anglican or Presbyterian. However, North Carolina believed in religious freedom.
- Target residents: poor farmers with small farms since most people had come from south Virginia.
- Residency requirements: If you were not a believer in God, you couldn't hold office.
- An important founding document was the charter signed by King Charles II allowing the 8 noblemen to establish North Carolina.
